Mouscron, Belgium Giving Away Chickens! WOOT!

I found this on BBC this morning, what a great thing to do.

Basically, the town is giving away pairs of chickens in an effort to reduce the amount of household waste.

I feel that many small towns in the US would benefit from such a program. It would encourage the having of backyard chickens, reduce landfill input, and give children a better idea of where food really comes from.

There was another post yesterday on this. Very interesting I thought. Wouldn't it be nice if some towns here would do it too....but I doubt they will! They're too busy trying to keep folks from raising their own food
