Okay, this is probably really whacky, but I'm running into a space/pen problem.

I have 19 chickens, 2 geese and 2 turkeys -- all chicks. The chickens are between 5 weeks and 15 weeks. I've had them in a pen that was 6x6. They're getting bigger. [IMG] I have a second pen (6 x6) where I put the geese and the turkeys and an open run behind the barn that's probably 60 or so square feet. I don't trust my guys to be safe outside the barn at night so this is what I started doing:

I move the geese and turkeys to the outside run in the morning.
I move 9 chickens from one pen to the unoccupied geese/turkey pen.

Then in the evening, I move the chickens back in the chicken pen for the night and the geese and turkeys back to their pen. [IMG]

Crazy? Insane? [IMG] What do you think? My birds are starting to get used to me handling them now.

That's what I do with my ducks now. I have 5 chicks that will be doing the rounds soon. Not nuts. You are very protective of your flock. Congratulations! [IMG]
  3. Sounds like a lot of work. I think you should be making preparations for when they are adults, or when they need more space.........Pop
