Okay, this is probably really whacky, but I'm running into a space/pen problem.
I have 19 chickens, 2 geese and 2 turkeys -- all chicks. The chickens are between 5 weeks and 15 weeks. I've had them in a pen that was 6x6. They're getting bigger.
I have a second pen (6 x6) where I put the geese and the turkeys and an open run behind the barn that's probably 60 or so square feet. I don't trust my guys to be safe outside the barn at night so this is what I started doing:
I move the geese and turkeys to the outside run in the morning.
I move 9 chickens from one pen to the unoccupied geese/turkey pen.
Then in the evening, I move the chickens back in the chicken pen for the night and the geese and turkeys back to their pen.
Crazy? Insane?
What do you think? My birds are starting to get used to me handling them now.
