While Snowball's Mother Pearl (she's a cochin b x oegb) is off laying eggs, he is a diligent babysitter to his little 'sisters from another mister'
.. ok there are pullets and cockerels in the little clutch of 8 lol but I am so impressed with his mothering skills. Keeping them all together and preventing the hectic chirping that would be going on if they had no 1 giving them security. Snowballs (a mixed breed of crested x cochin/oegb) will be going to a friend, with his own little mixed bag of girls, but only once some of my young pullets reach maturity. Till then, he is very useful and saving me having to pen the chicks till Pearl is done laying. What a champ!!
