My 12lb Light Brahma... who eats rocks and lawn shaves...

Bad abscess on her right foot, it busted open late this afternoon and she went into septic shock. Should've noticed earlier but she's tuff and never complains, limps or linger behind...

Gave her a .5ml shot of tylan and washed her foot with 20% benzyl alcohol and peroxide. Foot's ok infection wise but her lil' body took a hit. She was out cold for an hour...

luckily, my backyard neighbor is a farm vet, so we took her in and she's stable now. Already pecking at food... that is Mrs...jessus... food to resuscitate...

Long story short, it's been unseasonably swampy here in Southern Komical and she probably had a bad cut and just kept cruising in watery crap and it got the best of her.

Check your hen's feet and legs periodically, every week or so. Sucks to chase em around but worth the trouble...

:woot that she is feeling better.

I check my birds feet at night....with a flashlight on my head thing.
Soooooooo much easier to catch them while they sleep.

As long as I am quiet and quick I can avoid major coop freakouts.
