Mucus under egg

I just went to check for eggs- and found a clear mucus substance under an egg. The egg wasn’t cracked or anything... I thought the egg was cracked but it was fine.
Our hens are about 6-7 months old. Any ideas what it could be? Here is a pic, you can see how clear it is. It was gooey, and kind of sticky. Just a bit of sand on the paper towel, as that’s what they have in their coop. They have turf in their nesting boxes.
Any ideas? TIA!

What do you mean by 'turf'?
Was there any egg yolk in nest bedding?
Thinking a broken egg might have been mostly eaten and all the remained was the egg white.
I use artificial turf in their nesting boxes instead of straw, wood chips etc to keep the coop cleaner.
It was like an egg yolk, but it was underneath a full (not broken) egg. Come to think of it, I found a ghost egg earlier that day, beside a full egg. I wonder if it was the same hen?

Ah ok, should be easy to find stuff then without digging into the bedding.
Are they easy to wash?

Ghost egg?
In same nest?
Can be hard to figure out who lays the 'messy eggs',
soft or thin shelled that break easily, get mostly eaten, and leave a mess to clean up.
