Ok, my chicks should be here tomorrow. I keep hearing that I should open the box at the post office and make sure they are all alive so that the postal worker is my witness. But the hatchery, Murray McMurray told me don't open the box until I get them home. What has been everyone's experience?

Depends on the hatchery. McMurray has a 48 hour live-arrival guarantee and takes the customers word for what died in that time frame it in my experience, I never open their boxes at the PO and they did not give me a problem when reporting losses. Other hatcheries do want you to open the box at the PO and have a form signed by the postal worker saying there were doa chicks.

I would only open the box at the PO if the box was quiet.

Murray McMurray is a great company to buy from. They have always taken my word when there were dead chicks.
