    Greetings,

Two weeks ago we ordered the brown layer assortment bunch from Murry McMurry Hatchery. Our order of 25 arrived as 30 cute chicks. I've figured a couple of the breeds out(we got a list) but I think this one is our free rare/exotic chick. Any guesses on breed? I haven't got a clue, she looked sliver as a day old chick but is browning out. I have a couple other chicks I am not sure about. Should I post them all here or make another topic.

It could be an EE, MM likes to send those out as "rare". However, if it IS an EE, it would likely be a girl, which is odd.

    It's the not-so-rare Easter Egger.

Thanks friends. Yes she does have slightly green feet/legs although most of the time they just look slate blue. I won't complain if she is an EE but not that exotic. Time will tell when she starts laying in a few months [IMG] Thanks for the help.

I think the chance of it being a little cockrel is probably closer to 99.99%, it's the hatcheries way of getting rid of their unwanted males that most backyarders despise, cause local ordances prevent them from having any roosters. EE is also a good guess cause an EE is just a mix of about 40 other breeds and really very far from rare. hope that helps.

with the leg color and the muffs i say you have yourself the lovely "elusive" ee that that hatchery likes to send as their rare/exotic chicks

Yep. EE and most likely a boy.
