We had a Muscovey duck for about a month, full grown, she arrived with clipped wings. We also had in the same area 5 chickens (that we had only arrived a week before her) and a horse that is great with all animals. The chickens are shut in at night but the duck prefferred to sleep in the feed shelter in her own small house, not shut in. She recently began to spread her wings out and attempt small flights, they were small, just a few meters When a storm arrived about a week ago, she began to sleep on the stable roof which is sheltered by a huge parasol pine tree. The first night I got her down and she went to bed. Eventually I decided she must feel happy and safe up there so I left her. On the fourth night she disappeared. I am not sure if she dropped down the wrong side of the fence and has flown away or if something has taken her. I doubted that she would as of yet have the ability to fly that far and had thought she was quite happy with us. I have asked all neighbours and no one has seen anything. There were also no signs of a sturggl or feathers implying she was taken. One of my neighbours told me female Muscoveys can fly very well. Does anyone have any suggestions? Is there a chance she may come back?
