My muscovys had another batch on 8-20-2011 and thought I'd share their pics

this is daddy...."Big Boy"

mamma and some of the babies...."Pia" is momma's name....

babies from same batch that were incubator hatched....except for the little one on
the far left...I found him in the yard away from litter mates and brought inside.

I just love Muscovy ducks! Have other ducks but they are my favorite!

update on my babies....

something got 'Pia'

...my main breeding female...all the other girls are too young as this was my first year with muscovys....

I really am depressed but on the flip side, glad I have her babies, and several look like her...
Pia was also laying more eggs so I have put those 7 eggs in my incubator and looking forward to have more of her younguns...

her mate has taken up with 4 other muscovys finally...for several days (3-4) he seemed kinda lost, so glad he is doing better....

hope everyone is doing well and have had no losses....

I'm so sorry to hear about Pia, it's always hard losing one of them to predators. I've been fighting with my drake about him sleeping on the creek at night, the idiot but he finally slept in the coop last ngiht. His favorite girl went broody on 9.

Her second one this year also.

ETA: and by the way, your drake is gorgeous. That extra patch of caruncles must be a beauty mark!
