Hello all! We just had our first ever egg hatching with our Muscovy, and she hatched 10 eggs. Of course, she did all this in a brush pile next to our pond. On the second day, she lead them up to our empty chicken tractor and we were able to pen them in there.

She'd already had them out on the pond, and all over the yard with the other ducks and chickens, but my main concern was of course predators and the chickens possibly hurting the ducklings, which is why I have them penned now. My question is how long should I keep them and momma duck penned? They normally free range all day, and living on the Gulf coast, keeping warm isn't a huge issue right now lol! She's definitely a good momma duck, so I'm not concerned too much with her not taking care of them. Any advice is more than welcome as we've raised our chicks in brooder boxes since we ordered them, not hatched them ourselves.
