We just recently adopted this Muscovy to our family. Trying to figure out if it is male or female. It hisses but when it is just walking around it kind of makes a throaty chirping/chortle. [IMG]

They said they're pretty sure it's a female and just under a year

If it's that old it's probably a female. She should start laying soon

I am going by length of the body from head to tail females are shaped like a foot ball where drakes are long through the body, females also have their legs set closer under them than drakes and they aren't as thick as drake legs. Drake are wonderful I love my Scovy drake. You'll just need to get him a 2-3 girls. An only duck is a lonely duck
