Amanita muscaria has been responsible for some human deaths. Do not eat it.

If you are not sure how to go about understanding mushrooms, I can highly recommend the book by David Arora, Mushrooms Demystified. There are also mycological clubs all over the US, and I know there are some in California. Join the club and find a mentor to help you.
