Recently got my first Silkies from a nearby breeder/enthusiast, and as I hadn't researched chickens since we started our flock last year, I really didn't know what to look for. Are 7 toes and single combs normal/ok, or do I have freaks? The seller is new to breeding them as well, and hadn't noticed the extra toes. How soon do combs start developing? I may want to breed some, and I wouldn't want to sell any duds, but I won't cull a chicken for no reason. Also, do the roosters normally shake their head a lot like they have water in their ears? I think he's just trying to get the feathers out of his eyes to see, since he usually does it when he's walking around in a new place.
