My rooster started sounding hoarse yesterday and the day before I had sprayed him down with a non-toxic spray for mites and lice from Tractor Supply. I also dust their coop after thorough cleaning with DE before the bedding goes down. I have always used the DE with special care but yesterday he started sounding hoarse. He is eating, drinking, chasing his girls...and me... but sounds this way. Could it be a start of a respitory problem? and if so, how do I treat him or should I treat him!

Had the same thing happen with my rooster with no other symptoms. I was told by others on the list to watch him carefully for respiratory symptoms.....nothing else developed and he was back to his normal crowing in 4 days.

Thanks for the info! He looks normal is acting fine, but just can't crow...kind of a nice break really as long as something serious does not develop!
