my 7yr old rooster lost 1 of his spurs, now his leg is very swollen. what can I do for him?

How old of an injury?

we have had him in a cage for about a week, but I just noticed it this morning.

If it is a week old injury and just now starting to swell, you need to act now because is sounds like the injury may be infected at this point.

Make sure he stays hydrated, once he stops eating and drinking, it's not good once they become dehydrated.
