I'm really pleased you like them
They're great - they follow me all the time. When I go back in the house they explore the garden but when I'm there they go where I go
It's so cute
They do have some space now but soon won't be let free range - they would ruin my vegetables I think
But I will let them out when I'm in the garden.
I took the chicks out today, too:
And my little "bent" roo
(his toes on one foot are curled):
Sorry for poor quality of pics but they're so active and quick...
domino7 - ask for that breed if you have enough space (they can't live in small runs), you want chickens which can take care of themselves (it's been reported they can go as far as 1 km from the coop searching for food and then come back, they need lots of greens), are hardy but they're not such excellent layers like sex links (180- 190 eggs per year). However, their eggs are low in cholesterol (30%) and are delicious
GLP chickens are not big birds - my hens are about 1,6 - 1,8 kg and I don't think they eat that much, at least of feed. Mine don't like chicken feed but maybe they're just spoiled
. They're always ready for some weeds though
