My bantam hen lays but not daily. Why ?

She is fed well and has laid 4 eggs in about a week in a half to two weeks and I was wondering is this normal for bantams ? I would know the exact date she started but I was on a 3 day trip and my sister just fed them and didn't even notice the egg

Most chickens don't normally lay an egg everyday, they lay about 4 or 5 a week, with the exception of production layers, who can lay 1-2 eggs a day, she just may be a little stressed and will pick up again.

It's normal for any chicken, in 'perfect' conditions you will get optimal egg laying but little things like a change in environment or housing conditions, stress or even the weather will effect production... You said someone else was taking care of them and that alone might have been enough to disturb egg production...

I've just started with chickens myself, but I believe it has a lot to do with the age and breed of chicken. If she is just old enough to start laying, she may need a little time to get things right.
I have Silkies, and according to what I've seen online, I shouldn't be expecting anymore than 3 or 4 eggs a week. And that's when they get going good.

Ok well thanks to all. I believe she has laid before because she lays big eggs for her size!! And they are perfectly shaped. She is laying every 2 to 3 days I think.
