I have been amazed to see my birds eating acorns while ranging in the afternoons! Not the huge ones, of course, but the little bean-sized ones, shell and all. Gizzards must be tougher than I realized.

We found one in a turkey's crop too this hunting season. I know turkeys are bigger, but it was a pretty big acorn!

We had a baby duck once that swallowed one of my brothers fish hooks! (it still had a little bait on it.) He just cut the line and hoped for the best. She lived to be one of the best ducks we ever had. Gizzards are amazing.
