My Buff Orp girl layed her first egg this morning!!!!

She layed a light brown egg... and you are right... it's still exciting each time I go out and collect eggs. Only the two Buffs are laying.. I've been told the Cochins are slow to lay. I just got some Australorp chicks.. will be replacing the Cochins when the chicks are old enough. I have a home for them already.

You have to understand that half the people that read these posts have chickens that have not laid an egg yet. They (we) (I) need to know how old your BO is so they can compare. I speak for hundreds of BYC members compulsively checking the nest boxes. Please tell us...

i can't wait for my buff girls to start. I have 2 out of 7 laying but I think they are my rhode island reds. At least one of them.
