My chicken broke her leg

While we were out of town my 12 week old chicken somehow got her leg stuck in the outside of our roosting box lid and was found hanging upside down by the caught leg by our per sitter. Lukily I was able to get my

friend who has owned chickens before to come and evaluate her injury. We are pretty sure she broke her leg so we watched YouTube videos on how to splint it and are keeping her in a separate cat crate in the house with food and water. This happened 4 days ago. She is doing well. She is trying to stand a little but mostly is resting in her cage. I wanted to know how frequent I should change her leg splint and how long I should leave her separated from the other girls. I am assuming it will be some time before she is able to use the leg. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much

Where on the leg is the break?

The break is on her shank of her left leg. The bone was not protruding through. We cleaned it and placed a splint on it.
