Hi,

My hen has broken her leg above the elbow/knee joint - she's putting no weight on it but is calm and content in a cage with food and water and a straw bed with her friends around . I'm so grateful to receive any advice on how to help her more.

Welcome to BYC. Do you see swelling, displacement of bones, or bruising where the leg is broken? Splinting may help, and sometimes a chicken sling or chair can be used to keep them upright, but off their feet. It can take 3 or more weeks for a broken bone to heal. A vet could Xray the bone to make sure it is in good alignment. Let us know how she gets along.
