I have a chicken that is around 3 months of age. The other day I noticed her limping a little and checked her over and didn't see anything wrong with her. Yesterday, she was walking fine so I assumed she was ok again. Today, I go up to check on them and she is holding her leg completely off the ground and limping around on one leg. I looked at her foot and leg and don't see anything abnormal. What could be wrong with her?

Can you post a closeup of the foot and leg?

Here is a couple pictures. The first one I laid her on the ground and got a picture of her leg and foot and as you can see, she kept pulling it away and up toward her. I looked her over well once again to make sure I wasn't missing anything and can't see anything. She doesn't seem to mind to much of me touching the leg. The second photo is how she is walking.

One more thing, she seems to be eating and drinking water just fine.

I see what "might" be the beginnings of bumblefoot on that. See the circle here?

Since I am unfamiliar with bumblefoot other than what I've read here, I can't be certain. Do you see a darker brown or black dot in that area? It is softer or firmer than the rest of the foot?

OK, I looked at her foot vs. the other and they both look the same. Both have the same feeling, meaning they both feel the same. I just wonder if she has maybe sprain her foot or something??? I don't know....I'm at a loss....

Mesquite thorn, sticker or something in her foot maybe? No swelling or redness or heat anywhere on it? If that's the case I think I'd watch her and wait and see. She's eating and drinking, so keep a close eye on her and watch for weight loss, swelling or redness on that foot. If her attitude is good, her appetite is good, it's probably the best course of action.

That's what I assume, maybe a thorn?? I am going to keep a close watch on it. It doesn't seem to be swelling or red or any infection. Thanks for the help!

Still watching her pretty good, she is still limping. I checked her feet and just don't see anything going on. She is still eating and drinking water but doesn't move around much. Still at a loss of what to do???

Try soaking her feet in a very warm (not hot) epsom salt bath? If she has something in there, that may help it come to the surface. The only other thing I can think is perhaps she twisted it and it's just sore. Does she limp when walking or only when doing the "chicken hustle"?
