Hi my name is Linda and I have 14 chickens. 8 of them are 6 months old and laying. The other 6 are 4 months old.

One of our 4 month old Barred Plymouth Rock is behaving a little strangely. She is drinking just fine but not eating. This has been yesterday and today. She separates herself from the other hens, I found her hanging out in the hen house yesterday afternoon. They only free range an hour or so a day if I can be out there with them so she's not eating on the sly. I have tried bread, grapes (she did poke at it), wet crumble. Last night at free range time, she walked around, did very little scratching. I held her and did a once over with my hands and I don't think she is egg bound or anything but I don't really know what to look for. I tipped her up and looked at her vent, no sign of anything wrong there. When I tipped her, water did come out of her mouth. I don't see any lice or mites.

I'm concerned about her. Any suggestions?

Thank you. This is the first time I've ever had hens and they truly are our loved pets.

water coming out of it's mouth doesnt sound too good. I'm not sure what is wrong but hopefully someone on here can help. Try putting another post in the emergencies/diseases section.
