Hello,
I have noticed in the recent days that my 3 chicks have got yellow swollen faces with red spots and their mouth are yellow. Their feet are also yellow. 2 of them are quite swollen, and the other one is not that swollen but still not good in appearance.
They are about 3 months old. 2 are Cockrells and one is a hen. They are all still eating/drinking and enjoying the outdoors as normal. They don’t really follow my older hens. And sleep in a separate coop to them. I don’t know what to do. Please help.

Hi @oliviaelizabeth :frow Welcome To BYC!

Can you please post some photos of your chicks? Try to get some good pictures of the swollen faces, feet, whole body and what you see in their mouth.

What are you feeding them, including treats?

Hi @wyorprock it’s dark outside now so I can really get any good photos now but I will post some tomorrow. I have been feeding them crushed corn and adult chicken feed with oyster shell.

Great! Look forward to the photos.

If you don't mind, tell us where you are located - country/state - we don't need your address, just a general location, it makes it easier when giving suggestions.

For 3month old chicks, I would feed either Chick Starter or an all flock type feed. Adult chicken feed (layer feed) has too much calcium and is usually not enough protein for growing chicks. Limit your crushed corn to around 5% of their daily intake. Growing chicks don't need oyster shell until they are laying eggs.
Do you have poultry vitamins? If you do, I would put some in their water.

Do they have access to a source of grit (crushed granite) or coarse soil with small rocks/pebbles. They need grit in order to process food efficiently in the gizzard.

It's hard to know what is wrong with your chicks. If they have yellow inside the beak and it's not stuck food, I would guess it's canker or possibly fowl pox, but that's just speculation. Photos tell the tale.

I live in France, Normandy. But I’m English.
Thankyou so much for the advice! I will change their food tomorrow. I do actually have some vitamins for chicks! I used to put that in their water but stopped when they started venturing outside. I should continue really. They do have access to grit.
It’s like a yellow colouring in the mouth. And around the eye. The eye is swollen and yellow.

Hi, here are the photos of my chicks. Thankyou
