My chicks are 6 weeks old. I am giving them a antibiotic, Tetracycline. I started them on this when I lost one of my chicks. I wanted to try to keep them from catching whatever killed that one. They had seemed to be getting better. The symptoms they have are brown loose stool and sneezing. They eat and drink fine. They were acting great and stools looked ok. When I took them out to the coop for the first time yest. I heard no sneezing and most of stool looked good. I brought them in last night and noticed today again some sneezing and more loose stool. I need to get them healthy and out of my house. They need to be able to be chickens!! I am thinking I took them out to soon. Also not sure the meds are right or strong enough. I had some say cocci but they don't have bloody stools unless the brown is from blood in the stools. I think I would have seen the blood by now this is day 5. I think they just have colds. I had one time when they spilled their water and by the time I got home the house was awful smelling. The box was cardboard at the time so it made the floor under them wet. I am pretty sure this is what started my problem. I am wondering about vaccines and worming as well. I have read that you should wait till 14 weeks or as soon as they are outside?? I am so new at this and I regret not doing my homework before I brought them home. It was chickdays at the farm store that got me. :( I am thankful for the any advice I can get. I really want these chicks to be good and healthy hens. Help.

I don't think your antibiotic is working, and an antibiotic can give them loose stools. I don't know about sneezing. Coccidiosis-does not have to be bloody. They will act real sick. I think it's too early for your chicks to get it, and they've been inside. If it's warm, and they drink more water, that can make their stools loose as well.

OK Today they are acting better. They are outside for good. Loving the coop and run. I think I am just going to keep the antibiotic going and see if they clear up completely. It seems to be helping again. The stools looked better today. I think I am worried a little to much. Thank you for the advice and I will keep everyone posted.
