Today I got a call from the boss in another division to come over right away. I'm thinking what did I do wrong. Well I get over there and they are all standing in a circle. I see a large ceramic frog in a jello mold and a box of cinnamon rolls. At this point one of they guys asks if I want a chicken because they didn't know what to do with it. So they pull out a box with a white chick in it. It is cold with no food or water. Of course I said yes and immediatley picked it up and held it to my chest to warm it some.

So I asked what the story was. The frog was ransomed. To get it back he had to be nice to his wife, buy a chicken, and a box of cinnamon rolls for the crew. Of course they called me to get the chicken because I'm the crazy chicken lady.

The chick is now in my office with a work light for heat, chirping up a storm. My co-workers are hoping it will be quiet soon.

I'll post pics later, but the little guys name is Ransom.

I am so glad they thought to call you. Who knows what the little guys fate would be if you werent the Crazy Chicken Lady!

I would love to see some pics posted when you can. Good Luck with Ransom!

Aww, Ransom, how cute. Seriously, they shouldn't have bought the chick if there were no plans of them keeping it and taking care of it. They just counted on you to take it home (which is what we all would have done) I'm glad that it going to be okay now.

There is nothing wrong with being the Crazy Chicken Lady. Glad you were there to take care of the little guy. Any idea how old? Has it had food and water already? Can't wait to see the pictures. Do you have some babies at home it can live with? If not, there is an excuse to go find a feed store to purchase a few extras.

Just what you need a reason for more chicks.

Everyone where I work thinks I'm nuts becasue we have about 200 assorted chickens there that I have to care for, I can get eggs for a discount price and I STILL went out and bought some of my own!

(Hey, what can I say, they came in an assortment that had duckies and turkeys too! who could resist?)

PS: add that one to the list of "Excuses to get more chickens"

Yes Ransom has food and water. I went to maintenance shop and got a shop light to give him some heat. At lunch I ran to the feed store to get him a buddy. I neeed food anyways. I have adults and I have juveniles, but Ransom is probably less than a week old and too young to put in with them. So at the feed store, I bought an easter-egger. Of course the sign said "Arracauna". It's bad enough that they don't know the difference, but to spell it wrong is doubly bad. They are both snuggeling under the lamp and being quiet now.
