It is currently housing 17 chicks.[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]I built this recently and had it ready to be occupied for my chicks that arrived the day after fathers day. In the pics I didn't have the pop door cut out, but it is now and I built a screen door so that the main door can be open and the screen door gives it more light and ventilation. All in all the coop cost under $400.00 to build. It took me about two weekends to complete (I had a little help from a brother in law and my two children). Sorry if some are blurry-they are from a camera phone. Oh and I did run electicity to it for a light and one outlet (the light can be switched on/off the outlet is constantly on). 13 Red stars 1 dominique, and 3 Auracaunas
I will be creating a run for free range- I'm just doing what my dw wishes...to be continued.

    Two weekends!

"(A) little help from a brother in law and my two children" - well, I should think so. But, look at all those power tools, shop vac, air compressor . . . coffee thermos - - all needs covered. (Probably a ham sandwich in the hand not holding the camera. [IMG])

Looks like you are in the chicken business now! Good job.

I am 6'1" 33yrs old and weight 240lbs....not much I can't do (although years ago I messed up my lower back and I'll live with aches and pain the rest of my life- but not much holds me down [IMG] )I have built many houses/shops/barns/storage sheds with my family while I was growing up...and worked on all my own cars since high school. Tools make the difference, and the drink holder had ice cold water in it all the time. You see when I get to workin...I don't do much eatin'....don't have the time to stop.
Thanks for the kind words....I'm enjoying my chickens..and eventually I might give in and let my wife have a few goats...as of now I feel I live with mother nature, (3 dogs,4cats,1rat,2turtles,2snakes,1bearded dragon,17chicks, and fish to live and feed the turtles(in a 100 gal tank).

Nice looking coop, I like the window design, simple but effective.

Hey! Who are you calling "Mother Nature"? Who's idea was it to build a brand new coop instead of converting the old shed? Hmm?
And don't think I didn't notice that you called them your chickens:lol:
I will get my goats, just you wait and see. [IMG]

The coop looks great, and I'm sure whosever hens they are will love it. [IMG] Everyone looks like they're having fun getting the the coop all finished. DH is a keeper.
