My crazy Flock. They love dog food!!!!!

Everyday when i get home from work, i let me flock out to free range for a little while before sundown. When i walk through the gate, they are trying to run down the door to get out.

But thats not the issue. When i let em out, they run straight full blast to my dogs feed bowls and start munching down on the dog food. I feed em scratch, layin pellets, and scraps off the table on occasion. I have to go get the bowls up before they get put out sometimes. Seems to me as though;

1. They aren't getting enough protein, thats why they like the dog food, or
2. They just like the taste of it. somebody enlighten me on this.

for mine its the cat food and I belive they just like the taste.

I think it is the meat protein they crave. It is a shame that the feed mills used the mad cow disease scare to quit using meat protein in chicken feed.

Yup mine love it too. My friend has 20 or so and they chase the two dogs and many cats away from the food so that they can eat it all!!

My ducks love the dry cat food and I use it as a treat for them. The food is high protein, low carb and contains no grains.

My dog turns his bowl over on top of the food and guards it then!

Back when I had ducks and a nice pond I would throw chunk dog food out on the water and it floated and the ducks went bonkers for it.
