I've posted in emergencies and diseases and cures, thinking she had rickets, and have been trying to treat her, but dh just called and said he talked with some other chicken people this morning and the general concensus is that she has had a stroke, and is not likely to get well. We'll probably have to put her down. We have talked to dd (who is 4 1/2) about the possibility that Daisy might not make it, but I don't think that's going to make it any easier for her to take. She was asking for a chicken as soon as she had the language skills to do so, and was given an Old English Game Bantam for her 2nd birthday. We named her Daisy after a chicken in a book. She's going to be absolutely heartbroken. This is a child who cried for half a day after we read Charlotte's Web!
So wish me luck. We'll probably tell her this evening, but give her a bit more time with Daisy, since she doesn't appear to be in any pain. [IMG]
