One of my chicken roosts is made from a store display unit. It has plenty of room on the bottom to store supplies behind the sliding doors. I've kept it about one foot off the ground so a chicken can jump on it in one leap. I've also added a chicken ladder for those lazy birds too! It's a two tier roost.
It may not be the most fancy of roosts but it serves the purpose for birds of this age. I added hay to catch droppings which then can be transferred to the garden to be tilled into the dirt to fertilize.
When the birds grow even larger i will then replace the roost making it totally from 2x4's. This roost sits across from their outdoor run area so they can always look outside. One young bird kept pecking at my leg throughout the video, lol! This flock is till young and don't much care about being on the roost yet but prefer the ground more.
