My duck died and now the other one won't eat

So my duckling died since my dog killed it but now the other duckling won't eat and gets scared when I try comfort it. My mom is thinking about giving the duckling to a barn since she doesn't want it to starve it self to death. What do you think is the best thing to do?

Have you tried feeding it by hand?

Buy another duckling to company the duckling. Ducks are social and needs a playmate. Tractor Supply is selling ducklings as right now. You can buy some from them.
