My FIL's barn burned down! Chickens, rabbits... dead.

Something killed all my FIL's chickens and made a home in the wall. They must have chewed some wires because when my FIL was poking around in the hole it started a fire and his whole barn burned down. All the rabbits died in the fire. Only the 3 dwarf goats and 2 ducks escaped.

Aww...That's aweful!

I know exactly how that feels - we lost 6 horses in a barn fire a few years ago...Started by a heat lamp I had set up for a newborn foal.

so very sorry for such a horrendous loss. It sounds like the damage may have been caused by a rat or mice the way you described the hole, and wiring being chewed.

Thanks everyone. I just can't imagine what it would've been like for those poor bunnies locked in their cages and terrified... I can't even think about it.

I posted on CL to find out if there was anyone that could donate supplies for the homeless goats and ducks. Hopefully somone will come through.

It was racoons, by the way, that ended up killing the chickens and chewing the wires. They found the charred bodies where the fire started.
