My first chick. What is it?

I was given a couple of fertile eggs (silkie-size eggs) and was a bit surprised one actually hatched. Does anyone know what this is?

Thanks. We thought that too because we have a welsummer. The egg was the size of our silkies' eggs though..and much smaller than the welsummer eggs.

you'll have to wait a few days to weeks for better guesses. Do you know what the people who gave you the eggs have in the line of chickens?

They are breeders and have a lot of different breeds. I asked for ( and thought I had ) silkie eggs

and you might since this chick's toes look the right color for a silkie, it just looks to lack the feathered shanks and toes. Does it have 5 toes?

Ah! Thanks for enlightening me! I had never noticed that silkies had 5 toes. Feeling a bit ignorant now
Anyway, no. it doesn't. I think it MUST be a welsummer then. Thanks.

not a wellie, they have yellow legs and this one doesn't.

Looks like my Easter Egger (EE) did at that age. What color was the egg it hatched from?

Kind of a creamy colour. Looked the same as one of my silkie eggs.
