white springs, fl
with a catch...they will protect them from all others because if anyone is going to kill and eat them it will be them...I love them dearly but don't trust them one minute alone with my birds...I used to have very close neighbors who bred, raised and fought game birds...they moved out here to the boonies and turned about sixty birds loose...yeah, like they are going to stay on their side of the drive...well, my dogs learned to kill chickens because our yard would be full of their game birds every morning...and every evening and every afternoon...this was before I moved my birds in and thankfully those horrible people are gone, but my dogs got a taste of catching their own breakfast and I don't think I will ever be able to break them...the red girl will catch them and bring them to me if they get loose...she knows not to hurt them but the other three I have, one not pictured, will kill a chicken, duck or goose in a NY minute...those neighbors also had some very nasty pitbulls...it was a nightmare around here for a while but they are gone and we have our peace a quiet back again...

They are beautiful dogs none the less!
I would never have one though, the neighbors have a pack of about 15 at the end of the road. I dont go down there on my bike any more needless to say.

I have had Dobermans for 25 yrs...had multiples of 2 to 25...the young black fm on the left in the picture is 9th generation...I have bred them, shown them, broken up fights, trained, had them save my bacon on many occasions, held precious heads in my lap as the died...2 sleep on my bed...used to be 3...I tape ears for people, trouble shoot behavioral problems and my vet calls me if he has a Doberman specific problem...with all of my time with them and my comfort level with them, I WOULD NOT RIDE MY BIKE INTO A PACK I DID NOT KNOW REALLY WELL! But as long as I can wiggle I will never be without at least 2...there are 4 at present...

I didnt ride my bike into the pack

No, lol, i was scoping out the countryside when we first moved in and decided to check out the pastures down the road, i get to a dead end and all of a sudden chaos took over! They were all behind a five foot fence with some horses, but im sure that five feet wouldnt stop them if they were determined.
When i rode to school on the bus they used to chase the bus if they could jump the fence in time

I miss my Molly, the sweetest dog ever. Such beautiful dogs! She was the neighborhood kids' favorite playmate, except for bikes...so I gave all the kids squirt guns and instructions...
I wish I could have another dobie.

Here is my worst flock threat:

A face only a mamma could love!

And my chief protector, now sadly handicapped with a bad back:

Beautiful Babies !!! I have 2 dobergirls, my mom has 4 (yay for rescuing dobies that turn out to be pregnant lol) I worked at a vet for 4 years before getting my first dog and was lucky enough for a stray 8 wk old red girl to walk in the door looking for a home

My girls both have done really well with the chickens so far. Morgan makes sure everyone is where she thinks they should be at night and Sister likes to bathe everyone (but she has an oral fixation thing, maybe related to being bottle raised?) In my 8 yrs working at the vet I have been snapped at by lots of dogs, even a few golden retrievers and labs, but have never been snapped at by a doberman. We see LOTS of them and they really are one of the most laid back, easy going dogs we deal with

I won' t deny the fact they look intimidating tho

Out of our 6, only one has cropped ears, but even all those floppy ears scare people off when all 6 of them charge the window to see who rang the doorbell

Owner of 2 blues, 2 reds, 1 fawn, and 1 black (our cropped girl)

Here are my 2 girls

I don't think I will ever be without one either

When I first got Morgan and was still living at home I was hoping to convince my parents to let me help foster with our local rescue group (hi amazondoc

) but then we got the preg female and even tho I don't live at home anymore, I am still working on Sister's behavioral/anxiety/whatever is ailing her issues, so hopefully I will be able to jump on the foster wagon eventually . . . lol
