My little goose smith isn't so little anymore and is around 4 months now. I notice that he sometimes "vibrates" when he sits next to my leg or arm and will push his chest onto my body or keep his face on my skin.if I pet him the vibrating continues too. I thought it was similar to a cat, but I wanted to ask and be sure. is this a happy reaction, or am I overlooking something? [IMG]

If he is an only goose he sees you as his sibling/mate and if Smith is a gander he will most likely expect to mate with you. See when we raise an only goose/ duckling they don't have another goose to associate with so they begin to associate us as their flock. It's not so bad with females although they get confused too but ganders/ drakes when testosterone begins to flow really lose control of their desires and want to breed anything. So just be aware of the changes that are beginning with Smith, you might want to find him[ if gander a friend] before Smith gets much old. Even female geese benefit from having goose buddies whether a gander or just another female. I'd give Smith a nice large non breakable mirror so he can see what he looks like and he can shower his attention on the mirror too. That will also help if you decide to get him a buddy.

    He sure is adorable.

Vibrating is absolutely normal he is doing that cause he loves you
My female goose would do that
What kind of goose is Smith?

He is such a pretty goose.
I had a female African but I had to sell her when I moved:(:(:(
    I miss her so much
So hopefully in the spring I can get 1 Sebastopol female gosling to have that bond I had with my African goose

I know this thread is a bit old… but I am noticing my goose has started to vibrate too! LOL

He will be exactly 3 weeks old tomorrow. I am wondering if this is something due to the muscle growth.

It is odd… but if he is happy and healthy, then it is all good.

(He, or she, is too young for this to be sexual.)

    Joy

    btw, he is Chinese too.

I've found that the vibration is from excitement.
