My hen hatched 2 out of 6 chicks last Sunday - then abandoned the other 4. They're hatching now in my bator, do you think the mama will take them? whats the best way? They won't be as lively as their 5 day older siblings, so I don't know if it will work - chime in with your opinions...

I'm experiencing this right now! So far mother hen wants nothing to with the lone late hatcher ( she even tried to kill it! ) so I have it in our brooder being lonely, I feel bad for it [IMG]

I snuck the 4 babies in right at dusk last night, after shed settled, and so far this morning she's taking care of all of them - looking a bit frazzled by the sudden triple in responsibilities! Did you try putting your lonesome chick in at night after shed settled in?
