I have 8 laying hens, and 2 boxes. It seems to be enough for them, but I think they only like one of them. Many times have I encountered 2 birds sitting on each other laying. Of course, my first thought is, "The other box must be in use." But when I look: nothing. They are willing to lay eggs cramped up together, but not go to the other box. It is always the box on the left that they prefer.
