My hens don't squat?

    It's odd, but none of my pullets squat. 3 of the 5 are laying (at 29 weeks) but have never squatted. They've had a rooster around but he's gone now. Wondering if that's why? Maybe they will now? They are all pretty skittish around people. They come running for treats but if I try to pick them up they run. Some times I can catch them and pick them up, and then they don't seem to really mind, but I hate that they run from me.

    Don't worry too much about it. I've only had one or two squat and I've kept chickens for years. But then again, they are not really pets even though I do enjoy watching them. Plus I keep many skittish breeds.

    They DO squat for me now. Must have been the rooster around so much that they didn't before. I love it--now I can actually pet them and pick them up more easily.
