my hens

    i have 2 broody hens sitting on 6 eggs each i have had sent to me in the post from a breeder there have been sitting on them since thursday now 4 days have put them both out in the morring for about 15 mins to feed and get water as they wont come out on there own how can i tell if any of the egg r starting to grow chicks in them plzz any advice plzz

    Hello and welcome to BYC [​IMG] Do you mean "torch"? Any good quality torch and a very dark room will do. You won't be able to see much before day 7 at least though. Wait until next Thursday and have a look. Fingers crossed they are developing for you!

    Hi and welcome to BYC from northern Michigan :D

    If you are inexperienced at candling wait until day 10, the embryos are much easier to see at that point.

    Hi and :welcome from Ohio. So glad to have you aboard. I wait until day 7 before I candle. I use a super bright flashlight. :thumbsup

    i dont have a candleing touch is there any other way would hate for them to be sitting on the eggs for 3 weeks for nothing

    ok will try at day 10 just a bit worred because i picked 1 egg up and i felt as if it was sloshing a bit is that a bad sign thanks for your advice
