My leghorn's swelling foot

Hello everyone, I have a year old laying white leghorn, Pearl, who has a foot that keeps swelling up.
I do not know what is causing it and what it is, so I would really appreciate some feedback.

It seems to stop swelling when I put vetrx on it though.

That looks very much like bumblefoot. On the bottom of the footpad is there a swollen area with a dark spot? It looks very painful, and if it is bumblefoot, I would consider doing surgery on it soon. You might even want to give some penicillin. Bumblefoot is a stah infection caused by bacteiaentering the skin through a small cut. Just search at the top of the page for bumblefoot surgery.
