Hatched April 11. Started laying eggs here and there last month. Until today the shell color has been an interesting smattering of darker spots on a brown egg. Today one of them got it right although I think sizing might need some adjustments also.

Today's egg and the hen is still alive.

Double yolker!
Are those eggs from different pullets?

I'm fairly certain it's from the same one. I've got em all convinced to lay in the nest box finally except one. This one started laying in a corner all by herself and has stubbornly held on to that piece of space.

I've watched her eggs go from just a very thin shelled light brown egg with just a few brown dirt spots last month to a lightly speckled egg to what's in the pics. I wasn't aware they had to 'warm' their engine up before they started laying the really dark brown ones. But it sort of makes sense that in a pullet just starting to lay eggs that not everything is mature I'm the reproductive tract.
