My muscovies hate me...

Hi, a couple of days ago I got 16 assorted ducklings to try raising. 10 of them are freshly hatch mallard derrived breeds (anconas, cayugas, and Welsh harlequins if curious) and the other 6 are three week old muscovies. The mallard breeds love me and will already eat from my hand. The muscovies however run to the opposite side of their brooder when they see me and stay huddled until I leave. I doubt they can like me as much as the younger ducks do due to them being well past their imprinting age but is there a way to at least get them to stop trying to run and hid at fist sight of me? Thanks.

Quietly sitting by them can help. As they get older you can start giving treats. Generally as adults, muscovy aren't as skiddish as when they are ducklings. They should come around after a while.

I got 2 new mature muscovy girls to add to my herd and in the beginning they were very skittish my others love peas so i would sit with them every day throw them a few peas and draw them closer each day until they ate out if my hands pepsi who was the most skittish will now take indervidual peas out of my hand. Think its all down to patience and remaining calm while your in with them
