We hatched our first ever chick! I have a flock outside. Then a few months ago we rescued a neglected OEGB. She has been living in our house b/c we were having issues w/ transitioning her outside.
then a few months ago, she started acting depressed....turned out the wonderful people on here were right...she was BROODY! So we pulled a fertile egg from our outdoor flock and let her hatch an egg. It hatched a few days before Halloween.
The chick is a mutt from a Blue Spash Bantam Cochin, and mama was a white/tan EE.
here is the chick we have named "Chip"
here is a really crappy picture of her w/ mama. Chip is almost as big as mama, but still nestles under her wing...it is SO cute!
We hope that once Chip is fully feathered, we can move the 2 of them out with the flock. We hope that the OEGB wont get picked on AS much if she is moved w/ a bigger chick.
