Looks like a rooster? Hard to tell
That's a rooster. As far as color, it looks like the coloring on Black Copper Marans. I'm not sure if it has a specific name, but it's basically black with gold leakage.
Quote:He has no feathers on his yellow legs so I've ruled out Cochin He is as black as black can be with beautiful green irredesence [sp?]. Single comb. The female looks almost exactly like him without the prominent tail fan.
Thanks so much as soon as he learns to trust me I'll try to get better pictures.
Black Plymouth Rock is a possibility.
Here is a site with a picture of Black Rocks...
I was thinking maybe Black Orpington, but from what I can tell in the pictures I've seen, the Black Orps have black/slate legs, not yellow.

Hatchery black jersey giant? I have one I recently got from a friend and he has rustiness all in his hackle. He is huge! He is might be processed with the christmas turkeys if he is aggressive with me. He was the only chicken they had(others died as chicks, he was loose with goats) and he was starting to be aggressive to them. I think it might have been because he didn't have any hens, he has 3 now and so far hasn't showed his butt, yet
Ugh, why can't my phone have spellcheck?
