My new chicks came into the mail

    I got my new chicks from my Pet CHicken earlier today. I reccommend my pet chicken to anyone they are great. I ordered 8 female buff orps. They sent my nine and all nine survived

    Did they make you buy the heater-pad thing for $25? Just curious, because I know they use it in spring to keep the chicks warm.

    Just for the record, MPC doesn't always use the heating pad. The $25 for a small order is different because for one the shipment goes up from Priority to Express. Second of all the box that they use to ship the chicks in is the standard size box that typically holds 25 chicks. The straw base that all chicks are on inside the box is doubled and then poofed out to help take up some of the room. However, in colder weather the heating pad will be used to help keep those lil guys warm. Like most other places, packing peanuts (males mainly unless you're very lucky) are placed to help maintain the proper temperature during travel.

    I must agree that you have some beautiful babies there NJfarmer. They just don't stay little for very long. Wishing you only the best and lots of happy moments.
