I had one little khaki campbell hatch. There was a problem with my egg turner, and I am afraid it may have been wonky for a while before I caught it. So, French Hen was kind enough to give me some of her extra babies, Mallards, to keep him company. They are a bit big for him now, so they are separated, but I should be able to integrate them in the next few weeks.

Here is Marvin enjoying his first swim:

He has since gotten to play in the bathtub and LOVED it!

Here are The Holligans from FrenchHen:

They too had a blast in the tub. One of them discovered how to zoom under water and come up right underneath its sibling. Silly creatures. We are in the process of bribing them to accept us, they do so love their peas.

Oh thank you! We are loving the little critters. The mallards are warming up to us, they cheep at me and wag their tales when they hear me come down to them. At this point Marvin is way more interested in us than he is in his bantam chick friend. That little chick follows him around relentlessly, as if he's Marvin's little pet chicken. I called Holderreads a couple of days ago and told them my plight, and even though they are insanely busy right now they are going to try to scrounge up an extra duckling from one of this weeks' hatches to be a companion to Marvin. I am hopefully going to be able to pick one up tomorrow morning. They really are wonderful people.

My next order of Kahkis may be here tomarrow! Looking at yours I can't believe that mine were ever that small! So adorable! I want to order some runners from Holderreads, it's good to hear they are great to work with. Do you know if you call in an order if you plan to pick up, or do you normally have to fill out an order form and send it in?

They are lovely to work with. But, this time of year is pretty crazy for them. You will need to fill out an order form and mail it in, they don't do phone orders (even for pick up).

Sorry to hear about your incubator troubles..Its can be hard to get things just right. Eggs are resiliant and fragile at the same time. At least you got to experience the hatching of little Marvin - what a litle cutie.
