My NEW Light Sussex (with Pics!)

Discussion in 'Pictures & Stories of My Chickens' started by Rare Feathers Farm, Nov 10, 2009.

  1. Here are my newest additions--two pairs of Light Sussex from Greenfire Farms! They had a slightly rough trip 2 days from FL to me) but after some rest, a heat lamp, electrolytes and LOTS of food, they are doing better. One of the little guys has an attitude problem but hubby pointed out he may have just been ravenous when I unloaded them...

I'm holding onto my extra rooster until both of my roos mature enough to see which one I want to keep as my breeder...

  3. I'll (hopefully) have eggs next spring. I have a feeling these guys will be HUGE! LOL

  4. They are beautiful birds! I bet there glad to be out of that shipping box. [IMG]

  5. Thank you! I've always admired Paul's bird! I was sooo happy when I finally got them home & unloaded--and yes, so were they! LOL Hubby wasn't mad (SURPRISINGLY!) Although he kind of shrugged & said, "They look just like Light Brahmas to me." [IMG]

They are so cute! Congrats on your new babies! [IMG]

  7. I'm hoping they get some color back to their combs? They were REALLY pale when they got here and really haven't darkened up (with the exception of one of the cockerels, whose a little more dark then the others...)

  8. Quote:Thank you! I can already tell the quality difference between these & the Sandhill ones I had earlier. I since sold those...but they were a lot taller on their legs & had more of a leghorn-ish appearance...

  9. Quote:LOL. They do look like light brahmas, just with different combs and clean legs. [IMG]

  10. LOL I know! LOL And their lights are a different color, too! Aren't they?
