I am no expert but I am going to take a guess. Could they be male black sex links? A white spot on the head is how sex links are sexed.

They're just starting to feather out now. The feathers are black with white tips (bars?). They're very sweet, too!

yep likely BR chicks. I am having a hard time seeing the combs though. If they're rose combs then they'd be dominiques... CM are also that color with single combs, but the black smudge on the legs leads me to believe BR since CM have white legs.
