My peacock is running away

Hi, I wanted to know how I could stop my peacock from running away?
My peacock is about 8 months old we rescued him from a killer chicken when he was a baby and he imprinted on me long enough to not run away. Then we got a new puppy and we think she chased him away when we were not looking. We do know where he goes and I don't like where he goes because there are lots dirty things and dead animals down in our neighbor's vally. Please help tell me how to keep him in my yard! P.S. we do not have a fenced in yard.

To put it simply, lots of food, no dogs, and possibly a mate(as he grows older and becomes more mature he will wander off in search of a mate). I would also pen him up for at least two weeks so he gets a sense of home.

My peacock randomly left always, for years. The wild turkeys would stroll by the yard and he'd join up. Then get scared and run to various neighbors houses and lurk creepily at their windows until they called me.
