My pekin ducks have black mouths?

I have two pekin ducks and they both have black on the inside of their mouths. I don't know if it is from something they ate or what. It looks like they have been eating dirt. Does anyone know why this could be happening and what I could do to clean them up?

Haha, those are some muddy ducks. Give them a dish of water deep enough for them to dunk their heads and they will clean it themselves. They need access to water this deep anytime they have access to food stuffs.

Yes, it looks like they have been into dirt. You need to have a lot of water available at all times for ducks so they can keep their nostrils clean and working properly. This will keep the mouths clean as well.

"All's well that ends well." I'm relieved, I know nothing about ducks and thought they had some dread, black mouth issues going on.

They are beautiful.. Our ducks love to fish for bugs when I run the water by my feet.. It is a small stream, but boy do they love it.. Glad you joined in! &.
